Divine Influence Ministry: Camping July, 2008

Okay DVI Men,

We are back; we are back; we are back. Back from the welcoming wilderness; …and yes, back again in the midst of this crazy world of confusion and chaos; so lets saddle up, put on the whole armour of the Most High (Eph 6:11-17), and brace ourselves for another round.

I can’t begin to express how impacting and life-changing the experience was, so bear with me as I make effort to express the abundance of my heart.

Let’s see… where do I start…? Well, how about this: We hit the road on Friday evening at about 1:30, 2pm. and headed for Big Bear camping grounds. Upon our arrival, Brother Greg and I (both inexperience campers) tried to tackle pitching my tent and were unsuccessful until Brother Mickey came along to our aid. Yeah, I know, I know; it was just a tent – a small one.

Let’s move on; tents were pitched; beds were made; fire was blazing; now it’s time for dinner. Yes, that’s what I said, dinner time! Hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches were on the menu. What’s to drink…? …water, orange juice, lemonade and “whiskey”!!!... No brothers and sisters, not so; that was a joke; no whiskey; don’t get carried away, you can relax now. Ok, so here we go: Hot dogs had NEVER tasted so good in my life; grilled over fire; some of them were seared (thanks to Chef Mickey). The burgers…? O boy! Having a burger in the midst of all the restaurants and fast food places would taste just like another burger; have one away from all the busy life and all the privileges we get to enjoy and take for granted everyday… you would ask yourself the question “where were these all along?”. I assume you get the point.

What next on the events list? It’s fellowship time! All I can say for now, it was EMPOWERING! Too bad I can’t give you the fullness of it; you will have to experience it yourself. Honestly brothers and sisters in the Lord, I felt like crying. …Crying because that Spirit of “oneness” was in our midst; crying because I felt sincere brotherhood, sincere discipleship; crying because…, because the Love (agape) of Yahweh was made manifest in our midst; like I said, you will have to experience it for yourself. I would love to carry on, but the experience is too strong for words to express.

It’s “get in shape time”!!! Hiking, climbing, “going up the mountain”, whatever you want to call it, believe me, this is the “real-deal-Holyfield”. All the modern day fitness clubs in our busy world could never come close to this type of fitness workout. We walked/hiked from bottom to top, top to bottom with our swords (Bibles) in hand. When we got to the top of the mountain we sat down in one body, being equally yoke together and divided the Word.

Wait, wait, wait; let’s rewind few hours backward. I must document our first soccer tournament on the camping ground. Brother Mickey, Pele Payne won this year’s July, 2008 Divine Influence Ministry soccer match. Congratulations Brother Mickey! ...and don’t forget that it was the heaviness of my boots that made you win; I WILL be back, my brother; I will be back (Arnold Swarchenegger’s accent).

Great job men! Great job!
Shalom,

Cyril
